Introduction: The foramen magnum is the largest or opening present in base of skull. dimensions are clinically crucial because many vital structures passing through it. Objective: aim study was to determine different shapes and its anteroposterior diameter transverse diameter. Methods: This conducted on 32 dry human skulls unknown age sex. All important parameters were studied using a vernier caliper. Results: mean (TD) found be 27.75 ± 2.47mm (Mean SD) (APD) 34.62 3.58mm SD). various observed. most common shape oval 46.9%, followed by round18.8%, tetragonal 15.6%, hexagonal 12.5%, irregular 6.3%. Conclusions: In our study, oval; this can help surgeons perform post-cranial surgery near as an indicates narrow operative field. may also helpful for anatomists purposes forensic experts identity populations when compared other studies.
